Purpose
To assist with the development and implementation of the company sales strategy in China. To identify and build relationships with clients interested in setting up in Europe and the UK, ensuring they consider setting up in London. To engage with these clients through the investment cycle in order to drive qualified inward investment projects into the Think London pipeline, supporting the London ba<x>sed business development and business growth teams. To participate in marketing and lead generation activities in China.

We are a not-for-profit, private-public partnership delivering expertise and advice to international businesses. Our service is completely free, comprehensive and confidential. Our experts work with government and the business community to help companies access the best people, places and opportunities in the city.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide input to new strategies to generate investment in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
• Engage actively with key new and existing inward investors with a ba<x>se in Eastern and Southern China.
• Plan and implement the organization’s programmes for sales trips to Eastern and Southern China, building relationships with key contacts and managing the programme of activities.
• Contribute to the planning cycle for China including budgeting and business plans.
• Undertake market research to identify key market trends and prospective investors.
• Develop specialist knowledge of key businesses and multipliers in Eastern and Southern China or other regions as and when required.
• Propose and implement marketing campaigns/events in coordination with organization’s marketing team including offerings such as Touchdown.
• Broaden and strengthen the organiztitionlwith multipliers and government organisations in Eastern and Southern China including; UKTI, LDA and the City of London Corporation (following the Pathfinder protocol agreed with the City of London Corporation and/or UKTI) and Chinese government organisations including the Ministry of Commerce, Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).
• Assist Chief Representative China in management of lead generation agency activities in Eastern and Southern China.
• Work closely with target clients and prospect clients in market to drive new FDI projects into the Think London pipeline Work in co-operation with Think London marketing team, utilising marketing collateral and programmes to identify potential inward investment projects. Support the Think London Business Development Team and Business Growth Teams ba<x>sed in London where necessary to help progress projects to completion Influence clients to choose a London location over other potential locations.
• Communicate frequently and develop a strong working relationship with other members of the team within Think London.
• Actively seek out and report any intelligence gained on overseas owned companies already ba<x>sed in London who may be considering moving or expanding their operations.
• Maintain accurate and up to date records, including updating the CRM system regularly
• Produce sales reports and analyses and provide case related information required for external and internal reports.
• Contribute to the running of Think London events and lead generation initiatives in China attending trade shows & networking events and arranging seminars as required.
• Organise visit programmes for London colleagues.
• Organise visit programmes for potential inward investors into London in co-ordination with other team members.


Key Measurements
• Delivery of successful performance against primary, secondary and tertiary business ob<x>jectives, as defined in the Sales Plan.
• Delivery against business ob<x>jectives not specifically defined in the Sales Plan, but which are required for stakeholder reporting.
• Balance success across Central London and London sub-regions.
• Maintain sufficient pipeline cover in all actively targeted regions to ensure delivery against key performance criteria.
Key Expertise
• Education: Graduate or equivalent professional qualification
• Specific role experience: demonstrable sales experience, preferably gained in an international business-to-business sales environment, experience of having lived or worked in the UK, ideally in London, understanding of inward investment and its impact on economic development.
• Relationship Management: successful experience of relationship building /networking leading to major sales opportunities
• IT: knowledge of internet research, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint is necessary. Knowledge of databa<x>ses and CRM would be an advantage.
• Language: fluent spoken and written English and Mandarin is essential
• Mobility: clean, current driving licence, willingness to travel within China
